Common Delusions

CAPGRAS SYNDROME

The delusion that a loved one has been replaced with an imposter.

MIRRORED-SELF MISIDENTIFICATION

The delusion that the individual in the mirror is someone else.

DELUSION OF CONTROL

The delusion that someone else is in control of your body.       

THOUGHT BROADCASTING

The delusion that other people can hear your thoughts.

PARASITOSIS

The delusion that bugs or parasites are crawling beneath your skin.

EROTOMANIA

The delusional conviction that a stranger is in love with you.

DELUSION OF GRANDEUR

The delusion that you are more powerful or high status than you actually are.

SOMATOPARAPHRENIA

The delusion that a body part of yours is someone else's body part.

ANTON-BABINSKI SYNDROME

The delusion that you can see, even though you are actually blind.

DEPERSONALIZATION DELUSION

A delusion based on the feeling or conviction that you are not yourself or that you are not real.

FRÉGOLI SYNDROME

The delusion that strangers around you are actually loved ones in disguise.

DELUSION OF REFERENCE

The delusion that the world is full of coded, personally significant messages about you.

THOUGHT INSERTION

The delusion that someone else is the thinker of your thoughts.

ALIEN HAND

The delusion that your hand has a mind of its own.      

COTARD SYNDROME

The delusion that you are dead.                                                  

MORBID JEALOUSY

The delusional conviction that your partner is unfaithful.

RELIGIOUS DELUSION

A delusion with content of a religious or spiritual nature.          

ANOSOGNOSIA

The delusion that you are not suffering from a disability that you actually have.

PERSECUTORY DELUSION

The paranoid delusion that you are being watched, followed, or persecuted.

DEREALIZATION DELUSION

A delusion based on the feeling or conviction that the world is not real.
